Helen King is Professor Emerita at The Open University and has held visiting posts in Classics, Medical History and Gender Studies at the Peninsula Medical School, Mount Allison University, University of Victoria British Columbia, Notre Dame University, the University of Vienna, University of Texas and Gustavus Adolphus College. She has also been a Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies. She has chaired and served on funding panels for the Wellcome Trust, Arts and Humanities Research Council and Leverhulme Trust, and is a reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency. Helen’s publications include the co-edited volume Blood, Sweat and Tears: The Changing Concepts of Physiology from Antiquity into Early Modern Europe (Brill, 2012) and The One-Sex Body on Trial: The Classical and Early Modern Evidence (Ashgate, 2013), and she is completing Hippocrates Now for Bloomsbury Academic.
