This book chapter ('Tiny and Fragmented Votive Offerings from Classical Antiquity') discusses broken and worn objects, anatomical models, and the “partial” concepts of tithes and first fruits. It also presents the evidence for miniature anatomical models, and explores some of the possible symbolic resonances of these objects, which include deliberate archaism, control over the sick body, and the evocation of an intimate healing touch.
